Shed Wall Frame Height

Could you scale up the wall frame models and make a wall 9 feet or 10 feet tall? What would be the cons? Only asking because I plan to make a small 10x12 shed and to have it into a small home gym. Thank you

Shed wall height

You can absolutely go with taller walls for your shed wall framing. With all my shed plans I show my wall framing to be anywhere from 6.5' up to about 7'10". This is to allow for the bottom of the siding edge to extend down below the shed floor for weather protection. Siding panels, if using those for siding a shed, are 8' lengths. I have seen where these panels come in 9' lengths but not very often.

So with that being said about having your siding down below the floor, it you are going with shed walls taller than 8' you should go with lap siding of some sort. You will first have to sheet your walls with 1/2" osb or plywood. Making sure to start at least an 1" below the floor. Then you will add your lap siding starting also down below the floor.

You'll also want to make sure that you frame your shed walls with wall studs being 16" on centers.

Hope this helps answer your question. If you have any more questions please email me: john@shedking.net
