Repairing shed walls, plywood and siding

by Rita
(Houston, TX)

My significant other is repairing our shed. He's pulled off the siding, which was a sort of siding/plywood hybrid. Now, he's bought Hardiplank, but he's not planning to install plywood over the studs before hanging the siding.

What do you think? How is this all going to turn out?

Reparing your shed siding
by: John

HI Rita, it's John from shedking. You always have to have sheeting under that type of siding or the structure will shift. It's just not going to be sturdy enough if this is not done.

Yes it is more work, and obviously going to cost more but well worth it in the long run.

The sheeting should be 1/2" OSB or 1/2" plywood.
