When I first learned how to build a storage shed, I was fortunate enough to be taught the absolute best ways to build them. The best and most economical ways to build storage shed floors, walls, doors, and shed roof framing. Not only that, I really enjoyed building them!

It was fun to put them up!

The basic framing construction and design of the shed floor, walls, and roof were based on sound shed building principles. I quite often drive by homes where I built my backyard storage sheds just to see how they are doing. They are all doing great!

The shed foundation and floor were anchored to the ground in a manner that met nearly all county building codes. Of course, some countys had different requirements, but whenever I built wooden storage sheds, the foundation was anchored to the ground in concrete.

Even if the building codes didn't require this, I would still anchor the foundation in concrete.

The following illustration shows the proper way to anchor your shed floor to a foundation in the ground.

Of course if you want your shed foundation to be a concrete slab, this is even better for your storage shed.

Notice the offset at the top of the doors! Know what this is from? A poorly built shed foundation and imroperly constructed shed walls.

The whole shed structure has shifted to the left, causing the shed doors to be mis-aligned. You don't want to build your shed the way this poor sheds owner did!
